KPC Wins Three Mining Engineering Awards from ESDM

Two Aditama Awards and One Utama Award

 The efforts of PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) to apply the principles of good mining practice are highly appreciated by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).  On Tuesday (28/9/2020), Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif gave appreciation in the form of two Aditama awards and one Utama award to KPC.

 The Aditama trophy is the highest award for a company that applies good mining principles.  While the Utama category is the second highest award.

 Two Aditama awards were given to KPC for their achievements in the field of Mining Environmental Management, the PKP2B company category and the other in the field of Coal Conservation Management.  While the Utama award was given to KPC in the aspect of Technical Management of Coal Mining.

 The award was announced at the ‘Award of Achievement for the Application of Good Mineral and Coal Mining Engineering Principles in 2020’, Tuesday (29/09/2020).

 General Manager of External Affairs and Sustainable Development (ESD) KPC, Wawan Setiawan, expressed his gratitude for the appreciation given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.  According to Wawan, this award is a proof that KPC always prioritizes best practices in its mining operations.

 “Thank you to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources for his appreciation to KPC. This proves that KPC’s mining operations are in accordance with good and proper mining principles,” said Wawan.

 Wawan also did not forget to thank all KPC employees and contractors who always work according to good mining principles.  In addition, the ESD GM did not forget to express his gratitude for the guidance of the East Kutai government and community support so that KPC operates smoothly.  “Thanks to the East Kutai government and the community, so that we can operate smoothly,” said Wawan.

 Meanwhile, in his remarks, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Arifin Tasrif, hoped that the companies that received the award could become role-models and showcases for the application of good mining technique principles.

 “I appreciate the holding of this event with the hope that this can become a real benchmark for the management of mining engineering principles for mining business entities and other mining services,” said Arifin.

 To the award recipients, Minister Arifin congratulated them and hoped they could become an example for other companies in carrying out their mining activities.

 “I congratulate mining business entities that receive a certificate of achievement, trophy of achievement in every aspect, as well as the trophy of the Best Award for Application of Mining Engineering Principles. I hope that mining business entities and mining service business entities that receive awards can become role models, showcases, and  a place to see and be seen for the application of mining engineering principles, “said Arifin.

 The awarding of the Achievement Award for the Application of Good Mineral and Coal Mining Techniques in 2020 is a routine activity from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, at the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal.

 This activity is a means of giving appreciation from the Government to mining business entities and mining service business entities that have made efforts to comply with technical principles, carry out conservation of resources and reserves, create safe working conditions, and protect the environment, in order to realize sustainable mining practices or Good Mining Practices.
