PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) for the umpteenth time, won the Healthy Port award for the KPC Special Terminal, in the event ‘Community-Based Total Sanitation Award and Healthy Ports and Airports and Ready-to-Eat Processed Food Safety in 2024’.

This event was organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia. The award ceremony was held at the St. Regis Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/12).

The award was presented by the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Dante Saksoso Harbuwono, Sp.PD-KEMD, PH.D and received by Selvi Purnamasari, KPC Government Reporting Specialist.

Deputy Minister of Health Dante Saksono Herbowono said that the awarding of the healthy port award held by the Ministry of Health aims to create a clean, safe, comfortable and healthy port for the community using it. This is needed to reduce the risk of disease and improve health together. “We want to create a clean, safe and comfortable port to reduce the risk of disease and improve health together,” said Dante.

To support this cooperation and achieve maximum results, the government issued Ministerial Regulation No. 44 of 2014 concerning the Implementation of Healthy Ports and Airports.

However, Dante said, regulation alone is not enough. However, public awareness of good sanitation is needed. The role of the community plays an important role in preventing diseases caused by poor sanitation. “This effort is not enough through exclusive government programs, but requires the active role of the community to reduce the risk of disease and improve health together,” said Dante.

The Healthy Port Award is held every two years. The aim is to appreciate the organizers or managers of ports and airports in Indonesia, especially those who have implemented the implementation of healthy ports and airports according to the mandate of Ministerial Regulation No. 44 of 2014.

Indicators of the success of the implementation of healthy ports and airports include the implementation of environmental health, arrangement of facilities and infrastructure, increasing clean and healthy behavior, increasing occupational safety and health, increasing security and order, and strengthening formal institutions.
