KPC Wins Six Good Mining Practice Awards from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources

PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) successfully won six awards at the 2021 Good Mining Practice Award (GMP) Award event. The award was given by the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal (Minerba) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia, Wednesday (29/9/2021).

Of the six awards, three of them won Aditama, namely in the technical aspects of mining, environmental aspects and conservation aspects of mineral and coal resources. Meanwhile, one aspect, namely the aspect of standardization and the mining service business, won the Utama rank.

Of these four aspects, KPC achieved the highest score in two aspects, namely the Technical Mining Mineral and Coal aspect, and the Mineral and Coal Conservation Management aspect. For this achievement, KPC was awarded the Aditama Trophy from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

The awards were presented alternately by officials within the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and were received by KPC Chief Operating Officer (COO) Muhammad Rudy.

COO M. Rudy after receiving the award expressed his pride and gratitude for the appreciation given by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to KPC. “We are proud of this award. Thank you to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, more specifically the Director General of Mineral and Coal who has guided KPC, so that we continue to commit to the GMP application,” said Rudy.

Rudy further said that good mining practices has become the spirit and main characteristic in the KPC mining process. This is in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 1827 K/30/MEM/2018 concerning Guidelines for the Implementation of Good Mining Engineering Rules “We are trying to follow good mining rules in accordance with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 1827 K/30/MEM/2018. This has become an obligation that is not only a company policy, but also becomes a passion for all employees,” said Rudy.

In his remarks, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ir. Arifin Tasrif expressed his appreciation to the mining industry business players who have implemented good mining practices. “Congratulations to the award recipients, hopefully they can be a prime example in the application of good mining engineering principles,” said Arifin, in a press statement, Thursday (30/9).

Arifin further asked all mining business players to continue to work hard, to remain careful and productive in their respective businesses, and to jointly develop the mineral and coal sector. Because according to him, the mineral and coal sector has a vital role in national development.

The 2021 Good Mining Practice Award (GMP) award ceremony is a series to commemorate the 76th Mining and Energy Anniversary, with the theme Growing Energy, Resilient Energy.(*)
