Green Economy Award in Strengthening Local Agribusiness Ecosystems

PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) received a Green Economy Award from Detikcom media, in August 2025, for its commitment to supporting food security and community empowerment. The program awarded was the Agribusiness Development Program in the area surrounding the company’s operations in East Kutai Regency.

PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) reaffirms its commitment to food security and community empowerment through its Agribusiness Development Program in East Kutai Regency. Implemented in collaboration with the Regional Agribusiness Development Movement and the Integrated Village Development Movement, the program focuses on training, mentoring, and boosting local productivity.

A flagship initiative is the Integrated Cattle Farming (PESAT), which utilizes post-mining land for cattle and poultry farming. Beyond its significant economic and tourism potential, PESAT has provided training to more than 200 beneficiaries and repurposed livestock waste into organic fertilizer for food crops and forage cultivation.

KPC also supports 21 farmer groups in Bengalon District. Seven groups manage 122 hectares of farmland, producing 990,750 kilograms of wet paddy rice from 159 members, while others cultivate rice, secondary crops, medicinal plants, vegetables, and seasonal crops. These efforts highlight KPC’s role in fostering a sustainable local agribusiness ecosystem.(*)
