Message from Management

The era of disruption and changes in information and communication technology create new challenges for all business, including the mining business. Businesses need to adapt and transform with the new environment by improving the quality of human resources, innovation, adoption of digital technology, and preparation for dealing with changes.

The “More Than Mining” philosophy is KPC’s raison d’être. It is the reasons and purpose of everything we do and what we represent as business entity and as a member of the society. “More Than Mining” represents KPC’s aspiration to be more than just another coal mining company. KPC continues to ensure that the legacy of coal and our operation in Sangatta can provide lasting and sustainable benefits for the people of East Kutai, East Kalimantan, and Indonesia.

In order to maintain the competitiveness of company in mining industry, KPC continues to adapt and change the way it works with digital transformation technology. To carry out digital transformation, company is required to be able to change its business models and develop effective strategies that are able to present the right technological value. The use of smartphones as work tools has become a necessity so that the process is faster, transparent, real-time, and can respond improvement quickly.

Through digitalization, the company will be able to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the company’s operations so that it can always be competitive in facing the changing of coal mining business condition. KPC must be able to adjust technological developments to understand and meet changes in digital technology. Digital transformation will change the business model, mindset, and work culture. Any existing business, including mining, will experience disruption in the digital age. Digitalization will help companies to grow and optimize company operations. Therefore, in mid-2019, KPC launched the Membara Digitalization Project in response to these challenges going forward.

In 2019, KPC again received various appreciations from various parties such as the Subroto Award from the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia, Green Rating of Company Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management 2018-2019 from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Sutalaksana Award in PEI (Indonesian Ergonomics Association) 2019 Award, Tax Compliance Company from the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, Gold Rank in 2019 Asia Sustainability Reporting Rating, 11 awards in 2019 Indonesian CSR Award, 8 awards in 2019 Indonesian Mining Award, and the Best Corporate Social Responsibility in CNBC Indonesia Award 2019.

All awards were the result of harmonious collaboration between KPC and all its stakeholders so that the company could provide the best for the Republic of Indonesia. For this reason, we would like to thank all our stakeholders for the support given to KPC’s operations. We believe that good communication and cooperation will be able to maintain and improve the performance of this company even in difficult times.

We hope that the conditions next year will improve. We should not let our guard down with all the achievements, especially due to the unstable coal price movement that will be a challenge. We also have to do the right anticipation and adaption to run all new regulations set by the government. To face the challenges ahead, we must maintain and even improve various improvement efforts, increase work productivity, and efficiency efforts.

Related to the Covid-19 pandemic faced by the whole world, various efforts have been made by KPC to protect all employees and their families and the community around KPC work environment. Postponement of business trip, the enactment of health protocols related to Covid-19, and the provision of necessary facilities related to the prevention of Covid-19 have been carried out. Moreover, KPC also provided assistance and support to the central, province and Kutai Timur Government in tackling this pandemic. Assistance has been provided in the form of personal protective equipment for medical personnel, Covid-19 rapid test equipment, masks, ventilator, thermo guns, as well as basic needs for the Kutai Timur communities affected by this pandemic.

We hope that this pandemic can end soon so that we can carry out our daily activities as before. We again urge all KPC employees to always be ready to face all possibilities and support the management’s improvement efforts. We are confident that with our determination and joint efforts, we can get through this dynamic and challenging situation well.

Our Management

Mr. Adika Nuraga Bakrie

President Director

Adika Nuraga Bakrie, also known as Aga Bakrie, was officially appointed as President Director of PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) on April 28, 2022, via Memorandum No. 166/BR-BOD/IV/22. Aga Bakrie is not only the President Director of KPC, but also the President Director of PT Bumi Resources Tbk (KPC’s parent company), as determined by the Annual GMS on Tuesday, August 31, 2021.

For the man born on December 14, 1981, being asked to lead KPC and BUMI as a world-class company is not a difficult task. His track record in various world-class companies, as well as an academic degree as a Bachelor of Degree from Bentley University in the United States of America, proved to be a valuable asset for Mr. Nirwan Bakrie’s eldest son.

Aga began his career at the bottom before being appointed President Director of KPC and BUMI. He even worked as an analyst for Capital Managers Asia and Mitsubishi Corporation. Aga joined BUMI as a Director in 2020 while also serving as a Commissioner at KPC.

Aga is also the President Commissioner of PT Bumi Resources Mineral Tbk (BRMS), the Director of PT Bakrie Capital Indonesia, the President Director of PT Minarak Brantas Gas, the President Director of PT Gaia Energi Baik, the Chief Business Development Officer Director of PT Jungleland Asia, and the President Director of PT Graha Andrasentra Propertindo.(*)

Mr. Muhammad Rudy

Chief Executive Officer

A graduate of Sriwijaya University, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering. He joined PT Kaltim Prima Coal in 1992. He has comprehensive knowledge in mining operations, mine planning, mining economics, and value. He was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Head of Mining Engineering (KTT) at KPC before becoming CEO. Muhammad Rudy is a highly experienced professional who formerly worked as Contract Manager in the Mining Development Division. He has also held positions as Superintendent of Production and Superintendent of Business Analysis.(*)

Mr. Hendro Ichwanto

Chief Operating Officer

Graduated from University Pembangunan Nasional (UPN) “Veteran” Yogyakarta, hold a degree in Mining Engineering. Joined PT. Kaltim Prima Coal in 1997. Has been experienced in various roles within mining operations prior to his promotion to the position of GM Mining Operations in August 2012. Highlight of career with KPC are Mine Manager of Pit Hatari, Superintendent Drill & Blast, Superintendent Pit Technical. Starting career in KPC as Mining Engineer.(*)

Mr. Subhashish Datta

Chief Financial Officer

Mr Subhashish Datta has over thirty years of professional experience in Finance & Accounts, Business and Strategic Planning, Commercial, Company Secretary, et al in the Infrastructure, Power, and Mining sectors. He has a rich and wide-ranging experience having worked with Companies such as Tata Power, TRF Ltd (Tata Steel enterprise), Thiess Minecs India Pvt Ltd. (MNC), Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd (Tata Power subsidiary), Powerlinks Transmission Ltd (Tata Power JV), Stewarts & Lloyds of India Ltd. (Tata Steel subsidiary), Bharat Yantra Nigam Ltd (Govt. of India undertaking) etc.

Mr. Subhashish Datta is a Fellow member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India.  He completed his Chartered Financial Analysts course from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India. He is Graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He spent most of his professional life working for Tata Group of Companies in various capacities and at various geographical locations across India.(*)

Mr. Muhammad Raizal

General Manager Mining Operation Division

In June 2024, Muhammad Raizal held the role of Executive KPC as General Manager of the Mining Operations Division. The UPN Veteran Yogyakarta Mining Engineering graduate rose fast to the pinnacle of his profession in MOD at the age of 43. All of this is due to his leadership experience in MOD, his involvement in different improvement programs at KPC, and his position as Chairperson and member of the professional organization of the Indonesian Mining Experts Association (PERHAPI).

Raizal began his work at KPC as a Drill and Blast Engineer, then advanced to Senior and Coordinator Civil, Drainage, and Rehabilitation Planning Engineer. Raizal was appointed Superintendent Drill and Blast Operations in 2014, followed by Superintendent Pit Technical and finally Superintendent Pit Operation. Raizal was appointed Acting Manager Pit Jupiter in 2020, and by 2021 he had advanced to Senior Manager in the same area. Before becoming GM, Raizal was trusted to become Acting General Manager, which led to his appointment as GM MOD in June 2024.

Mr. Eko Fitriandri

General Manager Finance

Since February 1, 2021, Eko Fitriandri has served as KPC’s General Manager Finance. Eko is no stranger to the world of finance. Prior to becoming GM Finance, Eko held a number of finance positions at KPC. Accounting and Tax Manager, Treasury Manager, Tax and Government Impost Manager, and Accounting and Reporting Manager are just a few examples. His first job at KPC was as Superintendent Group Financial Coordinator in 2010. Prior to joining KPC, Eko worked in financial management for a number of companies, including PT Lotte Shopping Indonesia, PT Bumi Resources Tbk, PT Kirinesia Synfab, and PT Dinamika Kiranya.(*)

Mr. Rahmad Desmi Fajar

General Manager Marketing

Graduated as Accountant from Padjadjaran University; also Master of Science on Energy Trade &  Finance from Cass Business School, London, UK; and Master of Law (Business) from University of Indonesia.  While in KPC he also participated in professional development programs such as Rio Tinto Young Professional Program, LEAD (Leadership on Environment and Development) International, and Chevening  Scholarship. Joined PT Kaltim Prima Coal in 1997 as GDP Accounting, then subsequently on various roles in Finance, Corporate and Marketing before promoted to General Manager Strategic Business Development in 2018 and now General Manager Marketing.

Mr. Wawan Setiawan

General Manager External Affairs & Sustainable Development

Wawan Setiawan is a Master of Business Administration from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology from Padjadjaran University, Bandung. Wawan joined PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) in April 2003. He has experience in various positions related to community relations.

Prior to serving in his current position, he has held various positions and roles at KPC, among others as Public Relations Specialist, Community Relations Superintendent, Community Support Superintendent, and Bengalon Community Relations and Development Manager where he manages and ensures that KPC operations and programs in Bengalon can be implemented well. Wawan Setiawan has served as General Manager External Affairs and Sustainable Development (GM ESD) since May 2016.(*)

Mr. Didik Mardiono

General Manager Contract Mining Division

Didik Mardiono holds the position of General Manager Contract Mining Division after previously as of GM Business Performance and Improvement Division since April 2022. 20 years of career at PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), Didik is one of the leaders who masters mining planning and operations, mining economics, human resource management, and Continuous Improvement-Operational Excellence.

Didik started his career as a Mining Engineer before occupying managerial positions as Superintendent Production & Pit Technical, Lead Continuous Improvement Mining Operation Division, until becoming Manager of Strategic Planning and Manager of Pit Bintang.

Didik holds a Master of Business Administration from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and a Bachelor’s Degree as a Mining Engineer from Sriwijaya University, Palembang. In addition to academic degrees, Didik is also active as a member of the Association of Mining Experts (PERHAPI) with his last position as Chairman of PERHAPI East Kutai for the 2014-2017 period.(*)

Mr. Kris Pranoto

General Manager Health Safety Environment & Security

Kris Pranoto is a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Gadjah Mada University. He joined PT Kaltim Prima Coal in 2005. He has extensive experience in civil construction, mine reclamation, mine water management, and post-mining planning. Prior to serving in his current position, he has carried out various functions at KPC, including as Civil Mine Planning Engineer, Superintendent Reclamation and Environmental Manager. Kris has served as General Manager of Health, Safety, Environment and Security since November 2021.

Mr. Rio Supin

General Manager Business Development and Risk Management

Rio has been serving KPC since November 1999 starting his career as Graduate Accounting and subsequently climbing up the ladder of his career with the last position as Manager Accounting & Tax before promoted as GM Finance in May 2012. In 2020, He assumed a new position as GM Business Development and Risk Management. He holds degree in Accounting from University of Sriwijaya with wide experience in accounting & tax, treasury, assets management & financing.

Mr. Poltak Sinaga

General Manager Coal Processing & Handling

Poltak Sinaga has been the General Manager of Coal Processing & Handling since 2015. One of the leaders with extensive experience in project management, operations management, and asset management is a Doctoral candidate in Business Administration at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

Poltak has a proven track record in the operation, maintenance, and engineering of bulk material handling and fixed plant from pit to port. From 2004 to 2013, he successfully led the implementation of multi-disciplinary brown-field and green-field projects in crusher facilities, overland conveyors, coal terminals, and port facilities as part of KPC’s operations expansion program, which resulted in a more than threefold increase in overall revenue. Poltak also works on a number of projects involving operational optimization and business process improvement. Poltak Sinaga earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology in 1997 and an MBA from the same university in 2015.

Mr. Arif Rusmin

General Manager Mining Development Division

Arif Rusmin has been appointed as General Manager of the Mining Development Division, starting in February 2025, after previously serving as General Manager of Business & Performance Improvement. Arif Rusmin is a Bachelor of Mining Engineering from Sriwijaya University and a Master of Management from Mulawarman University. He joined PT Kaltim Prima Coal in 2001 as a mining engineer. He has extensive experience in the fields of mine planning and mining economic evaluation. Before serving in his current position, he hold various role at KPC as Superintendent Five Year Planning and Mine Planning Manager. He also holds the Indonesian Competent Person (CPI) certificate as an expert in estimating coal reserves. In addition, he is also registered as a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).

Ms. Tina Sirait

General Manager Supply Chain Division

Tina Sirait is one of several women who have held executive positions at PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC). Her career began shortly after graduation from Mining Engineering at Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 2000. Tina began working with KPC as a Graduate Mining Engineer in May 2001, at Pit Hatari’s Mining Operation Division. Tina was promoted to Senior Shipping Scheduling in the Marketing Division in February 2004, following three years of working on Mid-term Planning at Pit Hatari. Tina managed KPC’s coal shipments to various customers for two years before being promoted to Superintendent Shipping Scheduling and Logistics in July 2006, and then to Manager Sales Operations in the Marketing Division in October 2010. Tina was promoted to General Manager Human Resources (HR) in March 2023, then became GM Supply Chain Division (SCD) in July 2024, after a 19-year career in Marketing. (*)

M. Iffan Fanani

GM Human Resources

Iffan Fanani is the General Manager of Human Resources at PT Kaltim Prima Coal, a role he stepped into in December 2024 after over a decade of leadership in the company’s Internal Audit division. With more than 15 years of experience in internal auditing, corporate governance, and organizational development, he has contributed across multiple industries, including mining, finance, and manufacturing.

He holds a master’s degree in management and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Universitas Indonesia and is professionally certified as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Chartered Accountant (CA), and Certified Professional Coach (CPC). Outside of his corporate role, Iffan is deeply engaged in education and community development in East Kutai. He currently serves as Chairman of Yayasan Pendidikan Prima Swargabara (YPPSB), volunteers as a lecturer at STIE Nusantara, and supports children’s literacy through his advisory role at Kampung Dongeng Sangatta.(*)
