The development of Cooperatives, Small and Medium Business in 2007 focused on small household industries. One of the supports given is in the form of a Household Industry permit that gives an added value to the homemade products that are produced, such as ginger syrup, arenga palm sugar, solid palm sugar, djenko bean crackers, and salted snakehead fish. Product awareness was also conducted by presenting those products at expos and seminars at various occasions and locations. In the non-food industry, KPC assisted the Mitra Usaha Multi-Purpose Cooperative with the managing of plastic waste. The business showed very encouraging progress. In 2007, the Mitra Usaha Multi-Purpose Cooperative managed to send 12 tonnes of plastic waste to Java for recycling. The activity is also in line with the nature and cultural conservation programs. Through the Multi-Stakeholders from CSR and to improve the small and medium business’ facilities in East Kutai, KPC provided assistance to the community through the Trade and Industry Department by providing a ginger syrup processing machine, a banana meal grinding machine, and machineries to produce and process shrimp cracker and shrimp paste in Sengata, Kaliorang and Sangkulirang regencies throughout the year. As a follow-up to the patchouli cultivation program, KPC assisted the Bukit Subur Mandiri Multi-Purpose Cooperative in processing the post-harvested patchouli by donating refining equipment. The farmer’s harvested patchouli plants were processed into patchouli oils with a 2% yield percentage and 42% PA (patchouli alcohol) content. The PA content is higher than the Indonesia National Standard (SNI) which requires a minimum PA content of 30%. A sample of the patchouli oil produced by the cooperative has been sent and exhibited at the Patchouli Oil Expo held in Jakarta, and has received a very good response. |
